Best Practices for Aftercare

  1. Keep the bandage on until the end of the 4th day.

  2. Take a warm shower to help raise your body temperature. This will open your pores and help loosen the bandage adhesive.

  3. While in the shower, peel back an edge of the bandage and slowly pull the bandage parallel to your body or whatever feels comfortable. Doing this under the water can help with the removal, adjusting the water temperature according to comfort.

  4. After all the bandage is removed, while still in the shower, wash the tattooed area with non-fragranced antibacterial soap*.

  5. Get out of the shower and pat dry the tattoo area with a clean towel. Then let it air dry for 10-20 minutes.

  6. After letting it air dry apply non-fragranced water based lotion*. You may use whatever product works best for your skin type.

  7. The 3-4 days that follow, after taking your bandage off, you will wash your tattoo morning and night with antibacterial soap.

  8. After washing, you will apply a generous amount of lotion to your tattoo.

  9. You will want to apply lotion 4-5 times throughout each day or anytime it feels dry until your skin feels like you again. The lotioning part, after the initial 7-8 days, usually takes another 7-10 days to help fully heal your tattoo. This makes the entire process from procedure to healed in about 2 weeks.

Helpful Tips

  • Stay out of the sun for 2 weeks after the tattoo procedure unless loosely covered with breathable clothing. Use sunscreen on tattoo after healed to help preserve tattoo skin health. Please use sunscreen

  • Try not to exercise excessively during the 4 days while the bandage is still in place. You don’t want to trap sweat under your bandage with your tattoo.

  • Do not soak in any bodies of water while the bandage is on. The bandage is water-resistant, not waterproof.

  • Be aware of where your fresh tattoo is touching surfaces in public spaces and home spaces. Don’t rest a new tattoo on shopping cart handles, bars, restaurant tables, kitchen sinks, dirty truck beds, etc.

  • If your bandage bubbles it is fine, do not pop it. If it oozes a bit that is normal. It is white and red blood cells, and excess ink. If the bandage comes off please contact us to get another piece of bandage.

  • Don’t itch, pick, scratch, rub, or mess with your tattoo during the healing process. The only two acceptable ways of soothing the itch. Is to put lotion on the tattoo or lightly pat it.

Take care of yourself and please understand that tattoos are a way of self-expression, self-care, and most importantly SELF-LOVE.
